The Lake District, England’s largest national park will be submitting a bid to UN heritage body UNESCO in 2016
Described as one of our heritage jewels in the UK, the Lake District has all the criteria for World Heritage status. Its international appeal is growing but there is so much scope for it to increase further should UNESCO approve the bid for this land that has evolved and given much joy throughout the years. Lets hope the Lake District can join the other 28 UK World Heritage sites.
There has been a significant increase in mentions, discussions and interest in the bid over the summer with notable dates now passing within the bid timeline with the final bid dossier being submitted in February 2016. Tourism businesses are eagerly awaiting news and any information as this could put the Lake District even more prominently in the world travel map. The Langdale Estate encompassing the Langdale 4 Star Lake District Hotel and Brimstone Luxury Boutique Hotel are firm supporters of the bid along with many other high profile accommodation and attractions operators in the National Park.
